Everyone on campus assembles. The narrator explains that it is impossible for the two of them to be together because only the "most extraordinary alphas" can marry the "omegas" . An alpha can only marry an "omega" of his own, and it will take him at least ten years of hard work to earn this right. He tells jesus that he will wait for him one day. He asks why he didn't respond when he called him. He looks at the eggs that look like "chimera's swooshes" and asks if they would start moving already. He begs them to take the omega to a safe place and promises that the soldiers will take them back. He wonders if it is just his mind playing "tricks" on him.
