We're not sure what's going on between the two men, but it seems like they've been having sex for a while now. The two men are getting ready to go to bed, and the narrator asks if they'd be okay with it if he were in the room with them. The narrator tells us that they were both in school, so they had to meet the expectations of their families all the time, and they never had a chance for love. They grew up in a place where failure wasn't tolerated, and so they went to the narrator to help them get over that.
