The narrator tells us that he and nijou have been living together in the same apartment since high school. After graduating from college, the owners of the apartment decide to tear it down and rent it out to anyone who wants to live there. The narrator wonders why they don't live together, and wonders if they're really living together. He's grateful that he's living with nijou, but he feels like he has fallen into his own trap. He wonders if he'll ever be able to repay the favor that nijou has shown him. He wants to know why he can't do anything to make him happy. He doesn't want to be a burden to nijou. He just wants to do things for the guy he likes.
