The next morning, the wizard asks O'Feuille for help, but he is unable to use his powers because of his fever. He tells O'feuille that he came to help his mother, and that he does not want his son to suffer the same fate as his husband did. The wizard asks if he can hear the report of his errand yet, and O'Feille says that he would like to hear the full story when the time is right.
