In this chapter, we learn that the psy-comms have been hiding out in a barn in the province of Saul and David's. They've been avoiding questions about the whereabouts of their leader, who's still on the run. Apparently, transworld officials have threatened to bring a suit against David for attempting to capture him. The barn is a place where people work on crops, fixing machines, and guarding them. Everyone seems to have a good time. One summer, he and David worked on a program where they took care of people who were threatening the saul and david's farms. Now there's "a permanent contract" , he says, and he's going to hide out in the barn for a while. He asks the waiter if he can stay for a bit. The waiter says he can, but he doesn't know if he'll be able to stay for long. He tells the waiter to make two more people, and they all sit down. They notice that the reporter, suki-blair, has come in the morning to follow the two men. The two men decide that they'll help the man feel at home in his new home. They decide to offer him the "thing" that no one else in the world can resist--genetically enhanced food. They also decide that if he likes the food, he can eat it, but not the seeds. They don't want him to have to collect his food waste. The men decide to send a message to their bosses at the corp.
