In this chapter, we're introduced to a princess who's locked in a high tower. Every morning, little birds come to her window to tell her stories about how brave princes rescued their princesses from their towers. She's sad that her prince never shows up to rescue her from her tower, but she's also happy that he never leaves her alone. We're also introduced to the narrator, who tells us that it's okay to be sad when someone rescues you, but not to be too happy when someone doesn't come to rescue you.
