It's got the location of the lucky arrow, which means the phantom probably has access to the compass as well. So the detective decides to get rid of all the information about the phantom, since Kim probably doesn't want to find out that the compass isn't real. He also decides to check to see if the phantom is using the compass to find his way back to Kim.
