This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a man who claims to be a lover. He tells the boss that he is not going anywhere and that he will sack the boss for waking him up. He also tells him that Misschen has already invited him to dinner, but that he has to wait for her at the restaurant. The man then goes on to tell the boss about the fireworks that have just been set off. He says that the fireworks are the first time he has seen them set off so close. The boss tells him to go pick up the roses. He then tells the man that he should arrange a breakup dinner for the two of them
