He says that he hasn't been to the lair in a while, since his wound has healed. He asks the boy if he's ever seen the boy before, and the boy says he'd never seen him before. The monster says he can't wait to get back to the "tree spirit" , and that he must be stronger than ever before. He's been practicing killing spiders, he says, and it's time for him to go back to "the tree spirit" again. He wants to kill the spiders, but he also needs to think about something else. He wonders if he could have saved Linh if he were stronger.
