In this short scene, the monster, disguised as a bastard, tries to claim the human bones that he has been given as a gift from his father. He is shocked to learn that the bones are actually made from cow bones, which are used in a game of dice called "golpae" in Korea. The game is played with human bones. The bastard's eyes have always been on him, even when he was a child. He tells his master that the village is in a panic because a newly-appointed governor has died, and the people are afraid that the man in the silk robe will soon die.
