In this chapter, we learn that Sol has been living in a remote part of the island for the past seven years. He has not been able to communicate with his family, and he has been unable to find out how the island has been maintained. He asks if anyone has been stationed at the island, and if so, if they have access to the system and the network. He also asks if there are any bots stationed there, and whether they are able to access the system. He then asks if he can be physically present to launch the new systems. He says that he has not spoken to his mother in days, and that she is disgusted with him. He tells her that he would love to teach her how to be a good person, but that he does not know how to do it. He wonders if this is part of Sol's plan to distract the true objective of the new system.
