In this short scene, Snodgrass explains that he's going to kill Dr. Hornton in order to get the 50k he needs to buy a new gun. He's bummed that the bounty hunters are ruining his shot, but he can't stop himself from killing the guy. He says that he has a year left before he dies, and that's when he should stop killing people and stop killing his daughter. He wants to give his daughter a proper education so that she won't be like him. He doesn't know how to do that. He has an ex-wife who hates him and wants to kill him, so he has to put his daughter through a good education so she'll be different from him. This is the only way he can do it.
