In this chapter, we learn that Jim's father died in a car accident, and that his son's body was found in a small town. We learn that the man who lives in the small town is not there anymore, so the family no longer exists, and they are very, very small. We also learn that there is no one in the town who knows about the accident, so it is up to the family to figure out what happened, and what to do about it.
