About This Chapter
Dobbs's coffee shop is full of people waiting to see him, and he's not happy about it. He's upset that they're there, because he'd like to be alone and not be surrounded by people. He doesn't know if he wants to tell himself, but he does know that he likes playing music by himself, because it makes him feel more like himself. He also knows that people will still hang over him like a tramp, even after they've left him alone. He says that he and Aiden were happy together before he came to town, but now that he sees Aiden hanging around, he feels sorry for him. He tells himself that he never meant to lie, and that he'll stop trying to do whatever he wants now that Aiden is out of the picture. He thinks that he can't do this anymore, because Aiden's mad, and now that she's gone, she'll be mad as well. He finally has his license, which means he can go out on his own. He goes to the coffee shop, where he finds that the place is empty. He asks if he can get to the barlow library, where they'll meet up with Aiden. He wants to know what's going on. He wonders if it's okay for them to meet up at the library three days later, when they haven't seen each other in three days. He suggests that they make it random, so that the next person will be able to get in through the door. This way, he thinks, they won't have to wait for Aiden to show up, which would be a lot more fun. They'll all be alone together, he says, instead of hanging around waiting for someone to come in through a door. It's a lot less personal for him,
