In this chapter, we learn that the monster's name is "Marlin" and that he is responsible for the deaths of 15 people, including Mina. We also learn that he was the one who took Mina's eye, and that she carried it in order to protect her from the monster. We learn that she was the only one who saw the monster, and she was killed by the monster herself.
