The ship is in the middle of a battle against giant turtles, and the captain is trying to figure out how to get rid of them. He's got a plan: he's going to lead the turtles into the open ocean, catch a wind, and outrun the turtles. The turtles can't catch up to the speed of the ship, he says, so they're going to have to go deeper into the ocean to catch up. The captain is all, "okay, now we'll go deeper in the ocean and catch up with the turtles" , but the turtles are already there, so the plan doesn't really work. The ship has to get close to Newark, where the battle is taking place.
