The ship's captain announces that a new member of the crew has joined the crew and will be joining them as far as New York City. The new member, Archer, is a young man who has just joined the ship and is eager to learn more about his new home. Archer asks if he can sit up, and the captain asks him if he is okay. Archer tells the captain that he is just a kid and that he has just met his new boss, the captain of the cannon ball. The captain welcomes Archer and tells him that they are the "good in the th jersey" and that they will take him to his destination after their next drop-off. He tells Archer that he can ride with them to New York and that drake always says that he needs a new hand in the ship to help him out. Archer is excited to learn that he will be sailing with them, and he asks if they have a navigator or mechanic yet. They have none, but the captain says that the navigator is math and the mechanic is private. They tell Archer that the new member will be the fastest man on the ship, and they will have to give him some meat to eat
