In this chapter, the protagonist tries to figure out what kind of man he really is. He realizes that he's been living for "worthy goals" , and that his parents have been trying to get him to have a child all along. He also realizes that his job prospects are not great. He's a teacher, a singer, and a part-time worker, but he doesn't have a steady income to support himself. He wonders if he could find a man to marry him, but none of them are good enough for him. He decides to go with him on his quest to find a husband. He knows that this is the fourth time that she's done it with him, and he feels guilty for having done it so many times.
