This chapter opens with Hiroshi's confession to his father. He tells his father that he taught him to be kind to his brother. Hiroshi tells him that the family has suffered because of him, and that he has made them promise never to come near his sister again. He also tells Hiroshi that he likes his father's music and wishes to be friends with him. He asks Hiroshi to be his friend when he regains consciousness.
