In this chapter, the audience is introduced to a new character named zheng-xiaodi, who is a member of the company's singing staff. She is a plain-voiced singer who has just been eliminated from the singing competition. Worried about her chances of making it to the final round of the competition, she tries to convince the other members of the staff that she is a better singer than Miss zheng, who has already been eliminated.
