The chapter opens with a flashback to the day of the wedding. The narrator tells us that he and his brother-in-law, Chen kai, were married for the "greater good" , and that his father, Yurui, used this as an excuse to cheat on him. He also used the opportunity to get married to Liyuanyuan, and then to get engaged to Chen . After Liyuan got engaged, the lin family invested a lot of money in the jianye company, and the company had a big crisis. The only way to gain the trust of his father is to join the board of the company, so that he can control some of it. He tells the story of how he was paralyzed in a car crash, and his father had to take over the company. If the money were in his hands, he says, there would be no problems for the company because he would be able to gain his father's trust.
