The chapter opens with the narrator preparing to enter the Qingxuan school of medicine. He's been looking for a way to pass the "heavenly tribulation" and become a "real dragon" . He can't believe that there are snakes in the sky and rats in the air. He also realizes that the city of Cangzhou is in the middle of a big earthquake. He wonders what the heck is going on. The narrator is excited because he's finally found the answer to his prayers: he can drink the blood from thousands of martial artists and transform himself into a dragon.
