About This Chapter
The scene opens with a soliloquy in which the narrator laments the fact that he is "single right now" and wishes that he could "choose" someone else to love. He then goes on to describe his love for his boss, who is "not to brag" but is "scump ag" . The narrator complains that he has not yet found the right woman to love him, but he is determined to do so. He tells the audience that he will sleep with the boss today and that he wants to "brighten this addiction" by making him cry, pin him down, tease him, or "make him cry" or "pin him down and tease him." He then asks the cab driver to take him to a nearby restaurant. The cab driver tells the narrator that the restaurant is only an hour away and that they will be back at the same time. When the cab arrives, the narrator tells the driver that he must wait for five minutes before he can get out of the cab. When he finally does get out, however, he complains that the smell of the shower is so great that he cannot believe he has even been in the cab for such a long time. He also complains that his pants are "scared" by the smell and that his face is so "cold" that it makes him feel like he is dead.
