"Happily divorced" The narrator tells us that he and Hoshijima have been happily married for a year. He says that his wife has changed a lot since they got married, and that she's become obsessed with her makeup. He tells her that he's going to be home soon, so she'll have to be furious. She'll be angry because he didn't tell her he'd be home late, and she won't be able to control her anger. He doesn't want to ask her why she does it, so he tells her to call her friends and ask them why they do it, and then he'll tell her why he did it. He also tells her not to panic, because there's still a baby on the way. She tells him to turn on his blinker, and to be more careful around the baby, because he was in a bad mood when she was trying to keep him away. She also tells him not to worry about the future, because she has told her friends that she is not going to work any more. The narrator asks her friends to tell her that she came down with some kind of cold or something, so that she can come back and be right back.
