It's morning, and Shmoop is getting ready to go to work. He's super-excited to be back at school, and he's all, "Gee, I wish I could go to school with you." He wants to make sure that he and hikaru are on the same page, so he asks Siddhartha to sit next to him so they can study together. He tells her that he had Lasik surgery on his eyes when he was a kid, and now he can't use them because they're so vague. He wants her to concentrate on studying, and she says that she's too sleepy to do so. He asks her why her face is getting red and her lips are starting to grow redder.
