Suzume comes home from work and apologizes for being late. She's glad that she didn't leave her key in her purse, since it's important to her. She thanks her for making dinner for her the day before, and she's super stoked that she'll be able to thank her again the next day. She asks if she can relax a bit, but she promises to be on her best behavior. She tells him that she used to be a pretty good cook, and now that she works for her parents, she finds it easier to get good at cooking. She says that when she was younger, she was a clumsy kid who relied on everyone else to do the cooking for her. But now she enjoys cooking and watching movies while she eats.
