The narrator returns home to find that Mr. Roberts has contacted his mother. The narrator is nervous because he is participating in a matchmaking party for the first time. He complains that his mother is so forceful that she tells him not to call her during the matchmaking party. He tells her that he has to think about his appearance before marriage.
