The next stop on the journey to Japan is Newtown, where Mamiyu and her family live. Mamiyu's father is excited about his son's upcoming trip to Japan, but Mamiyu is worried that his suitcase will not fit in the family's luggage. When Mamiyu shows her grandmother's beautiful garden, Mamiyu exclaims that she has never seen such a beautiful garden. She tells Mamiyu that her grandmother used to hunt yokai, or ghosts, and that she scolds Mamiyu when she looks through her old books. Mamie's room looks exactly like Mamie, and Mamie tells her that her uniform is green, but they only have one left from her sister's school, so Mamie and her parents are okay with the color. They are excited about the new life, and are happy that Mamie has a real futon to sleep on, since Mamie doesn't really like western style furniture. They also tell Mamie that the town she comes from is called "newtown" and that her friends will like her, since she is from a different town than her schoolmates
