About This Chapter
In this short scene, Huck and his dog, Evremonde, are in the middle of a fight. Huck tells the dog that he's in a good mood, and that he wants to play the tough guy. But he also wants the dog to know that he doesn't want to do business with him. He's already told him that he isn't doing business with the dog, and he wants him to name his price. Huck also wants to know if the dog has lost his mind. The dog says that he has, and Huck tells him to get out of the way because nobody loves him around here. Huck says that if he sticks with him, he'll have crazy adventures and fight bad guys, because he is "a real hero." Huck tells his dog to stay by his side, and to keep an eye out for anyone who might be trying to shoot at them. Huck reminds the dog of his own childhood, when he and his father were chased by a pack of wolves, and the dog was trampled by the monster. Huck promises that they'll get revenge on the monster soon.
