Thick Skins

In this chapter, Laurent reveals that he is a member of a primitive race of people who live on a planet called Lemuria. He explains that there is a "vangk portal" , or portal to the past, which contains a network of 20,000 people. He says that they will trap the rebels in the ruins of Lemuria and kill them before they can escape. He tells lark that he will take care of the wounded, and then burns the baby to death. .
