The narrator is excited to see him, because it's the first time he's seen him smile. He's going to check out the materials in the bag, and then he'll head over to the meeting room to talk to the other team members about the project. He doesn't want to be seen with anyone, so he heads over to see her. She's surprised to see that she's in the same room as him, and she wonders if they'll see each other again after this meeting. He says that he can't think of anything personal to say to her, because she'll be working on the same project.
