About This Chapter
The chapter opens with the narrator's description of himself as a "slutty superior" who flirts with anyone he likes, even when they're in front of him. This is why he's never going to be happy, he says. The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night and tells himself that he already knows he won't be happy. He wonders why his dream came back up again. He tells himself, "I already know i will never be happy" . He wakes up and tells the Chief that kumano has been acting weird. The Chief tells him to give the Chief the paperwork from the previous day. He asks if he has something to say, and the narrator says he does. He says he hates the feeling , and wonders why they don't need a salesman to go and explain what's been going on to the client. The chief says they need someone to give a "supplemental explanation" , which is basically an explanation of why the client is doing what it's doing. He also tells the narrator that the Chief will be able to call him if he needs anything, and he says he'll go and read the documents. He's going to take a break and chill out, he tells himself.
