The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which the narrator explains that he has just returned from a meeting with the section manager, the chief, and the other members of the company. He explains that the meeting is being held in front of a large group of people, and that the manager and chief are in attendance. The narrator then turns on his vibrator, which he has hidden in his shirt pocket, and says that he is about to have sex with one of the other men in the room when he hears the sound of the men's voices. The men are looking at him, and he is horrified. He says that the men are staring at him and that it is "humiliating" for him to be looking at them. He then turns the vibrator on and says he will be fine. He tells the men to "smile 7 jolt" , and they do so. He asks if they would like him to help him clean up and lock up the meeting room.
