About This Chapter
The narrator is in the lobby of a newspaper, where he is being followed by a reporter. The reporter tells him that he has a tip that something fishy is going on between the two of them. He asks the narrator to take his leave of the newspaper. He tells the narrator that he can't answer any questions that haven't been vetted by his editor. He says that he's going to look into the man with whom the narrator is having sex. The narrator says he'll look into that man. He also says that the narrator's name is "Saeki mangetsu" , which means "servant." The narrator doesn't know what to do now. He's worried that if a picture of him without makeup or disguise gets put into a story, it's not going to be good. He didn't even notice that he was being followed at all, because he took on a "sketchy job" . The man wants the narrator and the reporter to come to the lobby and apologize. He wants them both to leave the newspaper immediately. In exchange, the narrator agrees to take over his father's business. He promises to give the girl 10 million yen if the girl will stop insulting him. The father wants to know who the man is. He doesn' t know, but the narrator guesses it to be the head office of the company that owns all the smaller companies in the country.
