The narrator and his childhood friend are playing with a toy. The narrator asks the friend if he's alone, and the friend says he is. The two of them decide to go out to get a girl, and when they get there, they find that the girl they're looking for is already there waiting for them. As they wait, the narrator becomes more and more interested in the other man's actions, and he begins to suspect that he is in love with another woman. He begins to worry about how he'll be able to keep the girl's suspicions about him in check. He decides to go to a nearby place where he can "cheer you up" and "thaw with laughter." The narrator wonders if heartbreaks are "hard to forget," and he wonders if there is a need to "let it all heal" with laughter.
