The next morning, the two of them meet in the office of the professor, who has just returned from a meeting with the provost. When the two are alone, the professor tells the young man that he has been summoned to the provost's office. The young man tells the provost that he will not be returning to school because of the incident with the professor. The provost agrees, and the two men leave the office.
