This is the first of a series of scenes in which the young president of the company is introduced. The young man, who has inherited the company from his father, is described as a "popular individual" who has made the company "very popular" . The secretary, however, is impressed by the young man's "impressive individual" and wonders why he would want a "se cratary" like her. She wonders why the company would want someone like her to work for the president, who is so young and handsome. She also wonders why she would have to work alongside such a "charming girl" as the president. The president asks her to help him prepare documents, and she agrees to do so.
