About This Chapter
In this chapter, we're introduced to the "clack" of the story. He's a character from a comic book, and he's the one who's trying to figure out what the heck is going on in this story. The clack tells us that the story is all about girls, and that's why the word "girl" is used so often in the title of this comic book. In other words, it's about the power of girls to influence the world around them, and the power that girls have over their social circle. So, the clack wants to know what's up with all of this, but he can't figure out why anyone would want to listen to him. So he tells us all about how he won an award in high school for his writing, and how he'd like to start a business of his own. He also says that he hates the sense of self-importance that comes with being self-important. He wants to go back to his "old world," and he wants to make sure that the "playboy" doesn't pick him as his future lover. The playboy, he says, looks like a "maso chistic devil" , and this is what the "devil" is trying to get him to do. So the playboy has to get rid of him, or else he'll be the only one punished. The "devil," he says , wants to have sex with the "woman" .
