About This Chapter
At the beginning of this chapter, we are introduced to a young man named "Takoto nogami" . He is 20 years old and lives in a small apartment in Tochigi, a small town in northeastern Japan. He tells us that he has no dreams of the future and that he is wasting his life "day by day" because he does not have any plans for his future. He asks his friend "Swish really" if he can have a girl friend, and the young man replies that he will never have one, since he is already a member of a club or a part-time job. The young man tells his friend that he would like to help him clean and stuff the apartment, and he asks him if he has time to do so. He then tells him that his aunt, "Anuty," is throwing him a welcome party, and that his cousin, "kiriko" , has just gotten a job in the town of Tokyo. He says that she is the perfect girl for him, because she is very kind to everyone and very good at sports and studies. He wants to sit in her rocking chair, but she insists that he sit in the rocking chair with her skirt up. He tries to get her to move the chair to a more comfortable position, but her response is that it has been a long time since she has been able to do this, and she has a mark on the chair that has not changed in ten years. The two young men then begin to argue about whether or not they should give the boys the treat they have just received, and they finally agree to stop arguing.
