In this chapter, the narrator explains that since his brother discovered that he was turning into a girl, he has been "forced to submit to him" . He tells us that if he does not want his brother to tell his parents, he must "do everything he says" in order to keep the secret. He says that his brother is "the worst" of all the men who could have figured it out, and that he has to do everything in his power to keep him from telling his parents. The narrator says that if his brother does not tell them, he will have to do "everything he says." He says he will keep looking for the cause on his own, and will not be swayed by the "science room" of his brother. He asks his brother if he wants to come with him to the library, and he says yes, but that he needs to "loom what am I supposed looking for." He asks if he can have a "flap medicine" , but his brother sends him sage instead, saying that his sound has been turned off. He wants to go home, but sage tells him that he should come back later, because his mom is going to be home late. He tries to get sage to come back, but he is interrupted by the sound of someone calling.
