It's the end of the first part of the story, and now we get to meet the "dish spirit" . The dish spirit wants to know if he's going to get a girlfriend for the new year. He's not going to say no, because he doesn't want to be a ghost. He wants a girlfriend who's a woman, and he'll be with her for the rest of her life, no matter what she looks like. He tells the dish spirit to stop messing around, and to think before he says anything. He says that he can't believe that the snake that he saw on the snake's feet is gone. Everyone keeps saying that it's just his imagination, but eventually he believes them.
