This scene opens with Sooahn's father, who has been waiting for his son to return from the war. He is furious that his son has not responded to the phone call for so long. He curses his son for not answering the call. He calls him a "bastard" and tells him to stop acting so pathetically. He asks if he is keeping his head down because of his father. He says that he is simply doing what he was told. He feels that he has acted like a hypocrite and a "forceful hypocrite" by not responding to his father's calls. He wonders how many people have liked the manager of the war, and wonders if he would do the same for anyone. He tells his son that he should get close to his son while he is waiting for him to return.
