In this chapter, we learn that every day in Tokyo, people are summoned from foreign places. The only sound they hear is the sound of the summoner's voice. The summoner tells the narrator to stay quiet and not to make a sound that reminds them of the place. He says that the only reason he got close to the girl was because he was looking at her face. He doesn't want her to have ulterior motives. The narrator says that there is no one in the world that wouldn't stare at a body like this. He also says that if he had ulterior motives, he would have looked at the girl's face and drooled on it. He asks the narrator not to tell him that he had no ulterior motives and that the girl is not responding to his gaze. He tells him to come inside and wait for the girl to respond. He wants to be a summoner too and he says that he wants to join the special forces class. He is worried that he won't be able to get into the class because the girl isn't willing to break the school rules. He adds that he has to survive his class so he can stay in the combat forces class, too. He wonders if they can use some light from his fire to give them some light. They say that they're only looking for the creature to observe, but that the area is so large and dark that they don't have any way to see anything. They want to leave the area first, but the narrator says they should hold on for a minute. He points out that she forgot to go to her class, so they have to wait for her to return. He looks at the attendance list and notices that she has forgotten the name of the teacher. He thinks that she smells good, but he says the teacher wasn't there so they can't do anything about it. They decide to wait until the girl returns to class, but then they'll make him a true summoner.
