Chapter 2 opens with a conversation between Hiroshi and his mother. Hiroshi tells his mother that he has been working harder than usual, and that he wishes he had someone else to help him with his work. His mother tells him that the man who has been helping him out is a friend of hers, and Hiroshi says that he is sorry that he did not have him. He also tells her that his resume has not been returned yet, and he wishes that he could share the pictures with someone. He says that when he looks at his mother's face, it gives him the strength to give Hiroshi his best life. He asks his mother for advice, and she says that she is the one who has asked him for it. She tells him to go with the automatic food-dispenser that she has bought for him. She also tells him not to work too hard, as he is used to this, and there is nothing wrong with it.
