About This Chapter
"happy hallows eve, my love" is the title of this chapter's opening soliloquy. It's the same title of the previous chapter, and it's also the same name of the first chapter of the novel. In this chapter, we're introduced to a young man named "Jerry" . He's just turned fifty years old, and he's in love with a woman named "gina" , who's been his best friend since they were little kids. Jerry's got a lot on his mind right now. He wants to know if "there was a light" in his life, and if "it came from out there" - that is, if it came from the haunted house at "ghoulstone manor." He doesn't know, but he remembers seeing a light there before the vampire's death. He thinks it must have been a light from out in the woods. Jerry says that he hasn't seen anything like this in a long time, and that maybe the moon is out, which is why they're standing around all this time. They're worried about the weather, but they don't want to freak out about it. They want to know what happened to the vampire, and whether or not there's some kind of "retaliation" for his death. Jerry thinks that's a good idea, since "everyone is at peace" in the city. He wonders if the mayor of the city, "demonika," is responsible for the abductions, and wonders if she can explain them. He also wonders if "slovotny" has a memory problem, and worries that she's having a hard time remembering what happened. He says that the city is getting "a bit confused
