About This Chapter
Count Orsino tells his son that he's going to train him not to avenge his father's dead body, but to use it as a tool to humiliate him and punish him every day until he can defeat him. He shows him a fight control program that allows him to watch the fight from his private sky lounge. He says that if he had known what his son looked like when he was a kid, he would have been able to recognize him better. He also says that he has another message for the peasant. He tells him that he is the prime of the Hydras, and that his army will be destroyed if it fails to assemble in the seven systems of the Kalis array within three days. If it fails, he says, his troops will be annihilated. He calls her a "grand mother" and says that the total market value of her army is less than nine thousand terrabonds. She should be put in a blood posse and locked up, he tells her. The transmission link between Orsino and his army has been disrupted, and he says that all nobles now have lost their use of their troops. He adds that he can't find his son anywhere in this state, because he has been trapped in his armor for three months. He compares him to a ghost pattern left behind by a faulty memory.
