About This Chapter
The next morning, Alys wakes up in the middle of the night. He's not sure what's going on. He doesn't want to wake his sister, who's in bed with him, and he's worried about what he'll say to her when he wakes up. He wants to know if she's okay, and she says that she is. He tells her that he can't believe that she would want to be with a stranger, and that she fainted in front of the stranger. He says that death is an inevitability, but that it's inevitable no matter what kind of person you are. He asks her to shake him at least, so that he won't have to watch the bird die. She says that's a good thing, because the bird would be weak, alone, and dependent on someone else's pity. She tells him that she'll kill him if he even looks at her sister again. She also tells him to stop following her and her sister around, because they're already acting like children.
