The next morning, Dr. Manette wakes up to find that the boss has gone on a day's leave. He's not at home, but he's worried about his wife. He wants to see what's going on, so he goes to the fifth-floor apartment where the boss is supposed to be resting. He hears a loud noise coming from another room, and he thinks that it must be the boss's wife, who's in another room. He tries to wake her up, but she's too tired to move. He wakes her up and tells her to go to bed. He says that if she falls asleep quickly, she should rest the sleeping man's body on her own. He tells her not to worry, though, because he'll be back soon.
