The next morning, brutus tells the rest of the men that he has seen evidence that the enemy soldiers are around the camp. They are using the ground to hide their tracks, throwing them off their trail. They continue their pursuit, and the boy will lead them tomorrow. They expect to hear back from them the next time they encounter the enemy.
