"Why are you insistent upon becoming my boyfriend? I already told you I'd leave Black" , the narrator asks. He's been thinking about this for a long time, and now he's found out that the letter was written in hopes of becoming his boyfriend. The narrator wants to know why he didn't write it in hopes that he'd become her boyfriend. He also wants to find out what kind of man black really is. He says that being in love with someone is exhausting, and that everything around him is turning black. He can't sleep. He wakes up in the middle of the night and realizes that he has been locked in his room.
